Yes, adults are able to cycle on a two wheel bicycle within a lesson.
Safety first: A risk assessment will be conducted with each adult. Helmet, elbow and knee pads will be provided for the lesson, along with a safety briefing. According to a model described in 1992 by (Neil, Fleming and Coleen) the VARK (visual, aural, read/write, kinesthetic ) learners, coaches will adopt and walk each learner through with the various (e.g. demonstration, instructions, movement guidance) steps to gain cycling competency skills and grow in confidence. The picture below illustrates the process taken by an adult learner. The likely hood of falling is greatly reduced when personal support is rendered, this allows for increased the speed of learning. Guidance by coach will be provided systematically when a new cycling skill is introduced and will be individualised according to own pace of learning.
